It is an interesting time to be involved in the web development industry. Although the web must still be considered to be in its infancy, the cost benefits of targeted online marketing can not be disputed.
But there is a problem. In the hundreds of meetings I have had with clients in Stockstreet's relatively short time, I have been interested to find that a majority of business owners have only an interest in the internet from a limited personal gain perspective. That sports, weather and banking can be checked is about the extent of their exploration of the web.
In contrast to this, my experience with consumers, both through general conversation and market research is that the average web user is becoming far more sophisticated in their internet use. The internet is fast becoming the first port of call for everything including news, product purchases, sourcing of service providers and keeping aware of community events.
So the problem is that too many companies are thinking like yesterday's internet user, when they should be aspiring to be tomorrow's web content provider. It is with this in mind that Stockstreet will continue to educate our clients in web consumer behaviour and help deliver results to the satisfaction of both you and your customers.
